Flock Browser: Reviewed
Aug/090
Until today I have been using this site, JasonJacobs.info, as my own personal guide to the web. Besides for the blog content, I used the sidebar to store my favorite links and to organize my social media sites. Today I found another way to do this.
Flock is a web browser from Mozila which allows you to organize all your social media sites, web favorites and feeds. Since it is powered by Mozilla, if you like the Firefox browser, this should find you well. The browser acts the same as any Web Browser and the menu options are just like that of Firefox.
The only difference is the Menu on the left of the page which is where all the ‘Social’ action is. The left sidebar, which can be opened and closed, stores your accounts for the different sites. I went to Twitter.com and signed in and within a second or two Twitter was added to the sidebar. The same for gmail, facebook, blogger, and youtube. With this sidebar you can easily access the sites and control if you are signed in or out.

In addition… that same sidebar can list your RSS feeds, web bookmarks (even a plugin to connect directly to Delicious), and gives you easy access to your e-mail and blog posts.
While I am usually reluctant to make changes, I just made this my default brower!
Flock’ s statement:
We’re focused on keeping you close and better connected to the people, places and things you love, more informed about the topics that turn you on, and smiling about the way it all comes together. We love nothing more than hearing from users who didn’t know they were experiencing ‘conventional browser fatigue’ until they’ve downloaded Flock..and voila. Their lives get that much better.
